Ford's New Escape Promises a Fun Ride Around Jacksonville, IL

As Ford says, the new Ford Escape is designed for "life in motion." Even the newly redesigned exterior is artistry in motion, with a shape that's 200 pounds lighter than the previous Escape. It's designed to give you a fluid driving dynamic that's snappier and sportier than the Escapes of the past. And Ford's willingness to bring back their hybrid models is a welcome breath of fresh air for the model. What else is new for the Escape and its lucky customers?

The first thing you'll notice this year is that the Escape is more powerful. All three of its powertrain options showcase a turbocharged configuration. The base model comes standard with a 181 horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that delivers a comfortable 190 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid powertrain gets 200 horsepower via a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor. The strongest option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you a boost up to 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. And remember, there's a PHEV option this year that's available on the SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. You'll get an eight-speed automatic transmission that's excellent at smooth shifts, so expect great handling this year, too. Thanks to the frame that is 200 pounds lighter, it's a fun drive.

New 2020 Ford Escape Illinois

We love what the designers did with interior and exterior tech this year. A Head-Up Display is much welcomed in 2020, as it will give you that image on your windshield that reduces the sometimes dangerous impulse to take your eyes off the road and look at an instrument panel. It's optional on some trims but standard on others. Ford's combination of smart hardware and software makes for a beautiful menu of technology on the Escape.

Sync 3 is also available. It gives you voice recognition capabilities and a host of glorious software programs to choose from that help you get where you're going and enjoy the trip there. Beardstown Escape owners will also appreciate the 4G Wi-Fi and FordPass tech that lets you connect up to 10 devices at a time. Everyone in the whole family can enjoy excellent connectivity and entertainment on the way.

The S trim starts you off right with cloth front bucket seats and six-way manually adjustable driver seat. It has a lot of convenience features that are a nice touch for a base model, a six-speaker stereo system that has better than you'd expect sound, and more than a few places to store your cargo. That's just the beginning, though. The Escape can be fully equipped and become a state of the art family SUV that leaves nothing out. The Titanium features automatic temperature control in two zones, a 10 speaker B&O Sound System with subwoofer, and leather-trimmed front bucket seats and 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat. You can outfit it for economy or excess.

Ford's Personal Safety System is standard on every trim of the Escape, something we appreciate here in Jacksonville, IL. Co-Pilot360 is standard on every single trim of Escape as well, giving you complete protection against every conceivable accident scenario. An SOS Post-Crash Alert System is standard on all trims as well, along with Torque Vectoring Control, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and Ford's BLIS (Blind Spot Monitoring System) with rear cross-traffic alert. You're protected on all sides, too, with an advanced airbag system. Airbags are still one of the most practical ways to protect drivers and riders in the event of a crash in the Pittsfield, IL area. Ford didn't forget that this year.

Exterior Design

The Ford Escape's unique low stance and lightweight build make it one of the most attractive of all compact SUVs in the world today, and we're not shy about telling customers that. It has a more rounded middle that gives it that nice futuristic, fiery look that so many other family SUVs are lacking. No family SUV should ever be boring just because it's a "family" SUV. Hey, families are adventurous, too, and if you've got teenagers, you want to get something they're going to be proud to hop in.

The Black Mesh Chrome Surround grille of the SEL and Titanium trims stand out from the crowd, giving the face of the Escape some real personality. LED signature lighting and configurable daytime running lights add even more flavor to the menu. A body-color rear spoiler gives all trims a sportier look, and it fits in great with the redesign, too. You're going to love the way the new Escape looks. It's sophisticated without being boring, and just like Ford intended, it implies a spirit of fun you won't soon forget. This model is sure to turn heads in the Mount Sterling, IL area.
