2018 Ford F-150 - Motor Trend Truck of the Year

The 2018 Ford F-150 Is the Motor Trend Truck of the Year

If you're looking for a pickup truck that's powerful enough to handle heavy loads and tow large trailers, while also being comfortable and luxurious enough for a night on the town, consider the 2018 Ford F-150. The F-150 has both the muscle to handle big work jobs and convenient technology that makes it a pleasure to drive.

And, of course the 2018 F-150 is Ford tough, with an outer body made from high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy and a fully-boxed frame made of up to 78% high strength steel. This combination of strength, technology, and capability made the Ford F-150 the 2018 Motor Trend Truck of the Year, and you can find it at Bob Ridings Westown Ford Lincoln.

The New Ford F-150 Offers Six Available Engines

The new F-150 was built with its best powertrain lineup ever, and it beats all other pickup trucks when it comes to capability. It comes standard with a 3.3-liter V6 engine that puts out 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Its base engine has plenty of power for daily driving and gets better fuel economy than most full-size trucks, at 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

For more power, you can choose from five other engines, including the available turbocharged, 2.7-liter V6 that produces 325 horsepower, a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 375 horsepower, a 5.0-liter V8 engine that makes 395 horsepower, a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 450 horsepower, and a 3.0-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine with best-in-class diesel horsepower of 250 at 3,250 rpm.

The Ford F-150 features a best-in-class payload of 3,300 pounds with the 5.0-liter V8 engine. The 3.5-liter V6 produces a best-in-class torque rating of 470 pound-feet.

It's also best-in-class for towing, capable of towing up to 13,200 pounds. Like all full-size trucks, the F-150 comes standard with rear-wheel drive and is available with four-wheel drive.

Shifting into four-wheel drive is as easy as turning a dial with the electronic shift-on-the fly (ESOF) system. ESOF lets you choose two 4-wheel-drive modes (4x4 low or high) as well as 2-wheel drive. Despite its size, the F-150 is quite agile, and it's composed on winding roads.

The good outward visibility also helps you maneuver it. There's an available package that includes a locking rear differential, an off-road-tuned suspension, and hill-descent control, making the F-150 a capable off-roader.

The F-150 also offers helpful features like Trailer Backup Assist, Dynamic Hitch Assist, and Trailer Sway Control which make it easy to connect a trailer and maneuver it, whether you're driving down the road or backing down a boat ramp.

The New F-150 Comes in Seven Distinct Trims

The cabin of the 2018 Ford F-150 has a wealth of cutting-edge tech features that make it easy to operate. It comes in seven different trim levels (XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Lariat, and Raptor) so you can have one with all the technology and luxury you want. The base XL comes available in three cab sizes and three bed lengths, and includes Dynamic Hitch Assist for easy towing.

The XLT adds power windows and locks, a USB port, smartphone app integration, MyKey, and the SYNC infotainment system. Move up to the Lariat trim, and you get everything in the XLT along with leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, and satellite radio. The Raptor features the most powerful engine in the F-150 lineup: a 450-horsepower, turbocharged V6. It also has four-wheel drive, an off-road racing suspension, and a locking rear differential.

The King Ranch comes standard with a V8 engine, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a voice-activated touch-screen navigation system, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Platinum builds on the King Ranch by adding standard wood trim accents, a Wi-Fi hot spot, power-deployable running boards, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. The top-of-the-line Limited is the most upscale trim, and it comes standard with the larger EcoBoost V6 engine, a twin-panel moonroof, and just about every other feature that you can get in an F-150, like the integrated tailgate step to make it easier to climb into the truck bed.

An available remote tailgate release lets you lock or unlock the tailgate with the key fob or the inside door switch. You can release the tailgate with the key fob, too. With the available SYNC Connect, you can use FordPass to track your vehicle's location and remotely access vehicle features from your smartphone, such as start, lock and unlock, and vehicle status, including fuel level.
